No Injuries in 87th Street Storage Building Structure Fire
Structure Fire 27W200 Block of 87th St.
At 3:20 AM on Saturday, July 29, Naperville’s Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) received a 911 call from a passerby reporting a possible rubbish fire and smoke in the area of 28W200 87th Street. A single company was dispatched to the call and while units were en-route multiple calls were received reporting a possible structure fire. Naperville PSAP upgraded the alarm to a General Alarm assignment consisting of three engines, two ladder trucks, one squad, two ambulances, and 2 shift commanders bringing a total of 24 firefighters to the scene. The first arriving fire department unit arrived on scene within six minutes of the original call and reported fire in a large storage building and a mobile home trailer used for storage. Arriving units were able to determine that there were no civilians in the buildings based on information from the owner. The main body of fire was extinguished within fifteen minutes of arrival on the scene. The cause of the fire is undetermined and currently under investigation.
The Naperville Fire Department was assisted on the scene by the DuPage County Police Department, Naperville Police Department, and DuPage County Task Force. A backhoe, and equipment operator, was also provided by the Naperville Department of Public Works to assist with extinguishment and overhaul operations. The Plainfield Fire Protection District, and the Downers Grove Fire Department provided coverage for Naperville fire stations during this incident. There were no injuries to firefighters or civilians.
