Police Investigate Serious Traffic Crash at Aurora & Ogden Avenues

On January 3, 2017 at approximately 3:27 a.m., the Naperville Police and Fire Departments responded to the area of Ogden Avenue at Aurora Avenue for the report of a traffic crash. Upon arrival, responding units observed an Aurora Fire Department ambulance on its’ side in the intersection. It should be noted that the ambulance was not transporting a patient and was returning to their station in Aurora. The other vehicle involved, a 1998 Black Toyota Camry driven by a 52 year old woman from Naperville, was located off the roadway in the parking lot of a local car dealership. The Fire Department provided emergency medical attention to both the driver of the Toyota and the two Aurora Fire Department personnel. All parties involved were transported to Edward Hospital.

Preliminary investigation indicates the driver of the Toyota was northbound on Ogden Avenue and the ambulance was westbound on Aurora Avenue when the collision occurred. No further details are available at this time regarding the crash, as it is under investigation.

Due to the nature of the crash, members of the Naperville Police Department’s Traffic Unit, trained in traffic crash reconstruction, have responded to the scene to investigate the crash. During the course of the initial investigation segments of Ogden Avenue and Aurora Avenue have been closed and rerouted. No charges or citations have been issued at this time, as the investigation continues.

Anyone who may have witnessed the crash or has any additional information regarding the crash is asked to contact the Naperville Police Department’s Traffic Unit at (630) 305-5379 or email zookd@naperville.il.us.
