Watermain infrastructure construction work is scheduled to take place on 95th Street between Ashbury Drive and Gateshead Drive beginning the week of August 2. The project will take approximately one month to complete.
All of the work will occur within the roadway. Lane restrictions will be in place 24 hours a day, seven days a week throughout the duration of the project. Traffic will be consolidated to one lane in each direction in the two southern lanes of 95th Street with the project work zone located in the two northern lanes. The speed limit through the construction zone will be reduced to 25 mph. Motorists may experience delays due to the lane alterations and are advised to use caution throughout the work zone.
This project is part of the Department of Public Utilities’ long-term capital improvement plan to enhance the water distribution system’s performance and reliability in the southern portion of the city. The work consists of installing approximately 1,500 feet of 16-inch diameter transmission watermain. This will improve flow capacity throughout the distribution network during high usage periods. The contract for this project has been awarded to Swallow Construction of Downers Grove.
