Commission Overview
The Board of Fire and Police Commissioners of the City of Naperville derives its authority from the Illinois Municipal Code, Illinois Compiled Statutes and from City of Naperville Ordinances.
The responsibilities of the Board of Fire and Police Commissioners are as follows:
To recruit, select and appoint qualified candidates to fill vacancies for original appointment of Police Officer and Firefighter/Paramedic To determine testing and selection processes that allow qualified employees to participate in the promotional process for the positions of Lieutenant and Captain in the Fire Department and Sergeant in the Police Department To conduct disciplinary hearings or appeals of disciplinary action in the Fire and Police Department

Meeting Information
Board meetings are scheduled to be held at 4 pm the second and fourth Tuesday of each month at Naperville Employee University (NEU) on the ground floor of the Municipal Center. Meetings may be cancelled if no official board business needs to be conducted. Meeting notices and notices of cancellations will be posted at the Municipal Center at least 48 hours before the meeting. Occasionally, the Board may hold special meetings and hearings. These meetings will also be posted at least 48 hours in advance.

Commission Members
The Board members are appointed by the Mayor with the consent of the City Council. Each of the five (5) members serve a three year staggered term.
