Naper Settlement is seeking volunteers in fourth and fifth grades to be junior interpreters from April through October. Juniors on the Green dress up in period clothing; demonstrate the toys, games and chores of the 19th century; and interact with the public. Boys and girls interested in becoming a Junior on the Green must be in fourth or fifth grade by April 1 of the current school year. They will receive comprehensive training in the history of the community and the museum, customer service and how children of the 19th century dressed, played and behaved. The time requirement is one three-hour weekend shift per month in April, May, September and October and one weekend and one weekday three-hour shift in June, July and August. A mandatory meeting for parents whose children are interested in becoming junior interpreters will be held from 1 to 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, February 4 at Naper Settlement’s Century Memorial Chapel, 523 S. This fun and entertaining event features more than 100 male and female student models each representing their extra-curricular clubs and sports teams. These “Show Stopping Seniors” will walk the runway wearing a wide variety of fashions from local independent retailers as well as national chains with outlets in Naperville. Doors open at 11 a.m. for guests to preview the raffle prizes while enjoying the wonderful sounds of NNHS’s Jazz Band. Lunch begins at 12:15 p.m. with a performance by the NNHS Show Choir. The Exchange Club of Naperville’s One Nation Under God breakfast will be held on Saturday, March 3 at 9 a.m. at Meson Sabika, 1025 Aurora Ave. The One Nation Under God Breakfast is a time when individuals, organizations and businesses will be presented prestigious awards for their outstanding acts of patriotism and contributions to the community. This event is hosted by the Americanism Committee of the Exchange Club and will feature motivational speaker and Naperville resident John Blumberg. Gather your team and participate in Naper Settlement’s first Trivia Night from 6 to 10 p.m. on Saturday, March 3 in the Meeting House at Porter Avenue and Webster Street. Teams of six to eight people must register by February 24. The fee of $35 per person includes an open bar and you are encouraged to bring your own food and table decorations. All proceeds benefit the Naperville Heritage Society. Mary J. Doody of “All Things Trivia” will conduct a trivia game made up of six rounds of questions on general knowledge and useless information.
