Naperville's municipally owned electric, water and wastewater utilities are locally controlled and managed, providing residential rates that are among the lowest in the state. Other benefits of local management include greater reliability and efficiency, and better and quicker responsiveness to customer concerns. The City purchases electricity from the Illinois Municipal Electric Agency (IMEA), and purchases Lake Michigan water from the DuPage Water Commission. The Springbrook Water Reclamation Center was built and expanded according to advanced wastewater treatment standards of the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency.
