What's New?
SECA Grant Applications The City Council held a workshop to discuss grant allocations on March 22, 2010 at 5 p,m. Click here to view their preliminary funding awards. These awards will be on the April 7 City Council regular meeting agenda for final approval. If you have any questions, please contact Katie Wernberg at (630) 548-1122 or wernbergk@naperville.il.us.
The 2010 funding cycle runs from May 1, 2010 through April 30, 2011. The deadline to apply was Monday, November 2, 2009, at 5 p.m.
About the Fund
The strength of Naperville flows from a variety of community organizations and opportunities, which provide a well-rounded quality of life. The City of Naperville encourages celebrations of community and cultural opportunities that focus on the heritage, diversity and character of the city. In support of these activities, the City of Naperville offers funds, derived from the city-wide 1% Food and Beverage Tax, for the purpose of aiding eligible organizations in providing new and continued cultural experiences. The Special Events & Cultural Amenities (SECA) Fund Grant began in 2005. Utilizing a commited revenue source tied to culture and events, the grant facilitates a beneficial economic cycle, as depicted below.

In 2005, 65 out of 75 SECA grant applicants were awarded over $2.5 million dollars and over $1.2 million was donated to local charities as a result of the SECA funded projects. In 2006, 71 out of 99 grant applicants were awarded over $2.5 million dollars. Please see the SECA annual reports below for more detailed information:
How to Apply
Applications are not currently being accepted. Completed applications were due Monday, November 2, 2009. To determine if your organization is eligible to apply for a grant, please refer to the SECA Award Policies and Procedures and SECA Master Plan.
There are three types of SECA Application:

March 13 & 14 - Advisory Cultural Commission meeting to determine FY11 recommendation to Council
March 22 - Council Workshop to determine FY11 Allocations
April 2009 - City Council Meeting - SECA allocations approved

Award Recommendation
The Special Events and Cultural Amenities (SECA) Fund provides an opportunity to grow Naperville's unique identity and sense of community through festivals and public events. The City of Naperville wishes to thank the organizations that submitted applications.
