NAPERVILLE, Ill.— The City of Naperville is recognizing June as Bike Month by promoting bicycle safety and encouraging residents to travel by bicycle, especially for trips less than two miles.
The city is supporting various bicycle-related activities and events throughout the month, including:
Reuse and Recycle Extravaganza on Saturday, June 5 – Donate old or used bicycles and bicycle parts. For more information and to see other items being collected, visit www.naperville.il.us/reuserecycle.aspx.
Naperville Bike Day on Monday, June 14 - Commuters who bike to the downtown Naperville and Route 59 Metra stations on this day will receive a gift bag, coupons, biking information and an opportunity to register their bike on site. This event is sponsored by DuPage County and Active Transportation Alliance. The city is also challenging everyone to travel only by bike all day.
Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committee (BPAC) meeting on Monday, June 21 - Celebrate this resident advisory committee by attending its regular monthly meeting.
The City of Naperville and its intergovernmental partners are also gearing up for the opening of Segment 4 of the DuPage River Trail in late summer 2010. The DuPage River Trail is a multi-use paved trail designed for non-motorized public use. Segment 4 extends from 87th Street to Knoch Knolls Park and the DuPage River Sports Complex.
