Naperville Police Investigate Fatal Accident Diehl Road at Freedom Drive on Wednesday

NAPERVILLE, Ill.— The Naperville Police Department and the Naperville Fire Department responded to the intersection of Diehl Road and Freedom Drive after receiving numerous 911 calls of traffic crash involving a vehicle and bicyclist.  Responding units located the female bicyclist who had been struck, and the involved 2006 gray Nissan Titan east of the intersection.   The bicyclist, Shwuwei Yeh, female age 56, of Naperville, was transported in very serious condition to Edward Hospital by the Naperville Fire Department where she died of her injuries.

The initial investigation indicates the male driver age 35 of Aurora, was traveling east bound Diehl Road, while the bicyclist was attempting to cross Diehl Road, in a northerly direction, on the east side of the intersection of Freedom Drive, when she was struck. 

Due to the nature of the crash, members of the Naperville Police Department’s Traffic Unit trained in crash reconstruction responded to the scene to investigate the crash which remains under investigation at this time.
