Pet Licensing
City Ordinance 10-4-3-2 states, "All persons who own or keep any dog and/or cat four (4) months of age or older within the corporate limits of the City shall annually obtain a City dog and/or cat license for each such animal. The City Finance Department shall issue a dog and/or cat license upon receipt of a rabies inoculation certificate stating that the dog and/or cat has been inoculated against rabies and that such inoculation is effective for the current license year."
Pet Licensing Fees
- Unaltered cat or dog - $8/year
- Spayed or neutered dog or cat - $4/year

Reasons to Licenses Your Pet
- Contact on nights, weekends, and holidays via a home phone number or emergency number, if someone finds your lost pet
- A license tells everyone that your pet is not a homeless stray
- Naperville Animal Control will call you or send you a letter, if your pet comes to the shelter wearing a license
- It provides emergency medical care for your pet, while in the custody of the City
