Trees, shrubs, ivy or landscaping rocks may not be placed next to electric poles, pad mounted transformers or pedestals (landscaping around electrical equipment information). Signs or other items may not be attached to electric poles as they may pose a hazard.
Trees or shrubbery planted on corner lots require other considerations. Restrictions apply to landscaping in a triangular area on corner lots. Street intersection landscaping requires frequent trimming or removal if growth obscures motorists’ vision (see Planting Guidelines and Parkway Maintenance). A permit is required to plant a tree in the parkway.
Prior to landscaping, residents must call JULIE for underground utility locations (see Underground Utility Cables).
The city holds an annual Arbor Day tree sale the last Saturday in April. Residents can purchase trees for their yards at significant savings. For information call (630) 420-6095.
