City Launches New, Mobile-Friendly Website

Major Redesign Provides Customer-Focused, Easy to Use Navigation

The City of Naperville is proud to announce the launch of its redesigned website on Wednesday, June 1. The new website features a mobile-friendly design that allows users to easily display and maneuver through the site on their preferred device, be it a smart phone, tablet or desktop computer, and is compliant with all federal accessibility requirements.

“The ability to connect with any level of government via technology is a central concept in this day and age,” City Manager Doug Krieger said. “Naperville’s new website focuses on the ideas of ‘live, work and explore’ and provides easily accessible information to our residents, businesses and visitors. This is a site that really showcases all the wonderful opportunities and amenities Naperville has to offer and why we’re the best place for people to live, do business and visit.”

The City partnered with Aurora, Ill., based digital agency WSOL to bring its vision for the new website to a reality.

“WSOL is honored to have been able to work in partnership with the City staff, residents, businesses and extended community to produce a website that not only meets the critical requirements for today’s digital ecosystem but is ready to service the ever-changing needs that will arise in the future” said Chris Osterhout, WSOL’s VP of Business Strategy. “Our partnership with the City of Naperville extends beyond the launch of this website as we continue to work together to deliver a best of breed government web presence.”

The new site was developed with user-ease and services in mind and tested using public focus groups. A simpler navigation is now presented in a more visually-appealing format. Six main menus - About Naperville, Government, Services, Residents, Businesses and Enjoy Naperville – allow multiple audiences to quickly access information tailored to their specific needs. Other features include:

  • A City events calendar that is searchable by tags to help the public discover more Naperville events that might be of interest to them;
  • A permits and license filter that helps people discover what permit or license they need for their particular job or event; and
  • Live parking data from Naperville’s downtown parking garages.
