Elgin Man Arrested in Naperville for Heroin Possession with Intent to Deliver

Officers seize more than three pounds of heroin with a street value of $320,000

A joint investigation between Naperville Police, the Drug Enforcement Administration and Amtrak Police resulted in the arrest of an Elgin man in possession of more than three pounds of heroin in Naperville Tuesday.

Eduardo Lara Cardenas, 49 of the 300 block of McClure Avenue in Elgin, was in a vehicle stopped by law enforcement during a narcotics investigation at 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 17 near Center and School streets in Naperville. An Amtrak K9 alerted to the vehicle, in which officers located more than three pounds of heroin with an estimated street value of $320,000.

Cardenas is charged with Unlawful Possession with Intent to Deliver, a Super X Felony, and Felony Controlled Substance Trafficking.

The Naperville Police wish to remind the public and the news media that a charge is merely an accusation, and a defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
