Fire Personnel Respond to Structure Fire in 400 Block of Bluegrass Court

NAPERVILLE, Ill.— At 1:27 AM on Tuesday morning (2/16/16), Naperville’s Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) received a 911 call from the resident stating she smelled smoke and there appeared to be a small fire on the porch of the residence. PSAP dispatched a General alarm assignment to the reported address, which brought 11 pieces of fire apparatus and 24 fire personnel to the scene.

The first fire unit arrived on scene at 1:33 AM and initially reported nothing showing from the structure, however after closer inspection, a small fire was found to be burning in the eaves. All occupants were confirmed to have successfully evacuated the structure and a hose line was pulled for extinguishment. The fire was brought under control within 35 minutes of the arrival of the first engine.

The cause of the fire was found to be nesting materials in an exterior fixture and there were no injuries to firefighters or civilians. The residence has been deemed habitable by Naperville’s Transportation, Engineering, and Development department. An engine company from the Wheaton Fire Department assisted with station coverage during the course of the incident.
