Firefighters Battle Structure Fire on 700 Block of Wehrli Drive

At 18:54 PM on Sunday evening 10/30/16, Naperville’s Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) received a 911 call from the resident in the 700 block of Wehrli Drive reporting an activation of the smoke detectors and a fire in the second floor bedroom. Naperville 911 (PSAP) dispatched a General Alarm assignment to the reported address which brought 10 pieces of fire apparatus and 24 fire personnel to the scene.

The first fire department units arrived on scene at 18:59 PM and reported smoke showing from the residence of a single family structure. Fire attack was initiated by the first-arriving engine, medic, and truck companies and a water source was secured. The fire was located in the bedroom and bathroom area of the second floor. The fire was quickly extinguished and confined to the area of origin. Upon the arrival of additional fire companies, salvage and overhaul operations were performed. No civilian injuries were reported. An inspector from Naperville’s Transportation Engineering and Development (TED) was also notified. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation and the residence was deemed habitable.

The Naperville Fire Department was assisted on the scene by the Naperville Police Department, Naperville Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), the Naperville Electric Department (NED) and Nicor Gas Company. The Plainfield Fire Protection District, Warrenville Fire Protection District, Wheaton Fire Department and Downers Grove Fire Department provided coverage for Naperville fire stations during this incident. There were no injuries to firefighters or civilians.
