Halloween Crack Down on Impaired Driving Nets Five DUI Arrests

Naperville Police issue additional citations for speeding and seat belt violations

Naperville Police removed five impaired drivers from Naperville roads during an aggressive Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over enforcement effort this Halloween.

The campaign, funded by federal traffic safety funds through the Illinois Department of Transportation, also resulted in 57 speeding citations and two seat belt citations. The extra enforcement was executed between October 28 and November 2, primarily during late-night hours, when statistics show the most unbuckled and impaired driving fatalities occur.

“Driving while impaired by drugs or alcohol is deadly, and we’re grateful for these grant funds that allow us to enhance our enforcement efforts and target impaired drivers before they do any irreparable damage,” said Sgt. Derek Zook.

Naperville was one of many law enforcement agencies throughout Illinois that participated in this effort as part of the statewide Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over and Click It or Ticket campaigns.
