Holiday Enforcement Campaign Nets 20 Seat Belt Citations

Naperville Police issue dozens of citations, make arrests during two-week Click It or Ticket campaign

Naperville Police issued 20 citations for failure to wear a seat belt and made three drunk driving arrests during last month’s merged Click It or Ticket/Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over mobilizations.

From November 14 to November 26, 2016, the Naperville Police Department joined other state and local law enforcement agencies across Illinois in the IDOT-supported enforcement campaign aimed at reducing fatalities by cracking down on unbuckled motorists and impaired drivers.

During the mobilization, the Naperville Police Department issued:

  • 20 seat belt citations
  • 82 speeding citations
  • 4 suspended/revoked license citations
  • 4 uninsured motorist citations

In addition, Naperville police made four drug arrests and three DUI arrests during the campaign.

Naperville Police Sgt. Derek Zook cautions motorists that the completion of the annual Click It or Ticket mobilization is no excuse to stop using a seat belt.

“Our officers are out all year long,” said Sgt. Zook. “If you or your passengers are caught not wearing a seat belt, day or night, you will be cited for the safety violation.”
