Naperville Police Employees Participate in the Polar Plunge

Several members of the Naperville Police Department and their families participated in the 2016 Law Enforcement Torch Run Polar Plunge on Sunday, March 6 and raised more than $2,500 in support of Special Olympics Illinois.

The annual Polar Plunge challenges thousands of jumpers across the state to take a dip into the freezing waters of Illinois’ lakes. Locally, hundreds of plungers, including the brave Naperville Police Department employees, took the plunge into Loon Lake in Silver Springs State Park in Yorkville. Donations received by each plunger provide athletes with intellectual disabilities the opportunity to participate in Special Olympics programs.

“There’s something incredibly inspiring about a group of individuals who go to such extremes in support of others,” said Chief Robert Marshall. “I’m extremely proud of all our employees and family members who jumped into that frigid lake yesterday to provide additional opportunities to Special Olympics athletes.”
