Naperville Police Investigate Serious Traffic Crash

(UPDATE: May 11, 2017 - The passenger and owner of the vehicle David R. Dokken 37, of Aurora, was subsequently pronounced deceased at Edward Hospital in Naperville. The driver, Michael W. Vera 34, of Aurora, has been charged with Aggravated Driving Under the Influence, a Class 3 Felony, bond has been set at $1,000,000. Vera was served with charges on Wednesday, at the Kane County Jail, where he was being held on unrelated charges. The Naperville Police Department does not have a booking photo of Vera. The Naperville Police wish to remind the public and the news media that a charge is merely an accusation, and a defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty. )

On November 23, 2016, at approximately 2:36 a.m., the Naperville Police Department and the Naperville Fire Department responded to the area of Naper Boulevard south of Ogden Avenue for the report of a single vehicle traffic crash.

Initial investigation revealed that the vehicle involved in the crash, a green colored SUV, left the roadway and struck a tree. Two occupants have been transported from the crash to Edward Hospital for treatment of their injuries.

Due to the nature of the crash, members of the Naperville Police Department’s Traffic Unit specially trained in crash reconstruction responded to the scene and continue to investigate the incident.
