Naperville’s National Night Out Events Feature Free Beach Party, Emergency Vehicle Show
Community National Night Out events scheduled for August 1, 2 and 7
Three nights. One community. One cause.
Unite with your Naperville neighbors in the fight against crime at any of the community National Night Out events scheduled on three nights this August.
Commonly called “America’s Night Out Against Crime,” National Night Out is a nationwide event designed to heighten drug prevention and crime awareness, generate support and participation in local anti-crime efforts and strengthen neighborhood spirit and police/community partnerships.
In addition to gatherings in 35 neighborhoods throughout the community on August 2, Naperville’s roster of public events celebrating National Night Out includes a kick-off celebration at Centennial Beach on August 1 and an Emergency Vehicle Show in downtown Naperville on August 7.
Kick-Off Celebration at Centennial Beach – 5 to 8 p.m. – Monday, August 1
New this year, the National Night Out kick-off celebration at Centennial Beach, 500 W. Jackson Ave., will feature swimming, a Naperville Police Department kayak race, a Naperville Fire Department Water Rescue Team demonstration, an information booth and limited food and beverages. This event is co-sponsored by the Naperville Park District and will take place from 5 to 8 p.m. A donated canned or non-perishable food item for the Little Friends organization will get you in for free!
Neighborhood Events – 6 to 9 p.m. – Tuesday, August 2
Thirty-five neighborhoods have registered to host National Night Out events between 6 and 9 p.m. on August 2 with plans to enjoy bounce houses, ice cream socials, live music, cookouts, kids’ parades and more! Neighborhood registration is free and gives city representatives (Naperville Police, Fire, Public Works, Animal Control, Electric and Water Utility departments and the Naperville Park District) an opportunity to attend local events with trucks, equipment and information as time and circumstances permit. Neighborhoods interested in participating can still register online by visiting www.naperville.il.us/nno through Friday, July 15.
Emergency Vehicle Show – 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. – Sunday, August 7
The City of Naperville is excited to partner once again with the Downtown Naperville Alliance to bring more than 50 emergency vehicles, including new and vintage police cars and fire engines, S.W.A.T. tactical units and modern emergency equipment to downtown Naperville on August 7. This free family friendly event will be held on Jackson Avenue between Eagle and Main Streets from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
