Police Investigate Serious Traffic Crash

(2/18/16: The pedestrian, Jeffrey Maxwell, a white male 49 years of age succumbed to his injuries on February 17 at approximately 8 p.m. The investigation regarding this crash continues. )

On February 17, 2016 at 1:20 p.m., the Naperville Police Department and the
Naperville Fire Department responded to the intersection of Washington Street and Bailey Road for a traffic crash involving a pedestrian. The pedestrian was transported from the scene by Naperville Fire Department paramedics to Edward Hospital for treatment of potentially life threatening injuries.

Initial investigation has revealed that the pedestrian was crossing Washington St. eastbound, when a vehicle traveling northbound struck him. The pedestrian that was struck by the vehicle is a 50 year old male from Naperville. The driver was a 60 year old male from Plainfield. He was driving a red 2004 Lincoln LS. The investigation is still underway.

Due to the nature of the crash, members of the Naperville Police Department’s Traffic Unit specially trained in crash reconstruction responded to the scene to investigate the crash.
