Structure Fire 1100 Block of Royal St. George Drive

At 08:16 PM on Thursday evening (05/19/2016), Naperville’s Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) received a 911 call reporting a fire at the 1100 block of Royal St. George Dr. The call was received from an occupant who was inside the home and reported that her stove was on fire. PSAP immediately dispatched a full still assignment for the reported appliance fire which consisted of 2 engines, 1 truck, 1 medic, 2 shift commanders, and an alternate response vehicle.

Naperville’s Truck Company 9 was first on the scene, within 5 minutes, and reported smoke showing from the front of a two-story single family home. The alarm was immediately upgraded to a general alarm assignment for the confirmed structure fire. The general alarm brought an additional engine company, truck-company, squad, ambulance, and alternate response vehicle, 26 personnel total.

The truck company began an interior search for the source of the smoke. Crews advanced a charged hose line into the structure and determined the fire was located in the kitchen. A medic company assisted the fire attack team and began an immediate search for occupants. It was determined that all occupants had self-evacuated, however a search was conducted as a precautionary measure. Crews extinguished the fire within 10 minutes of arrival and began salvage and overhaul operations to search for hidden fire.

The home sustained fire damage to the kitchen with moderate smoke staining to the interior and was deemed uninhabitable by the Transportation Engineering and Development Inspector on the scene. Additional assistance was provided by the Naperville Police Department, Naperville Electric Department, NICOR and the Naperville Fire Marshal.

The Naperville Fire Department was assisted with station coverage by the Warrenville, Wheaton, and Lisle Woodridge Fire Departments.

There were no reported injuries to firefighters or citizens.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by members of the Naperville Fire Investigation Team.
