Fire Personnel Respond to Structure Fire on 800 block of Pomeroon Street

At 05:05 AM Monday morning, Naperville’s Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) received a 911 call for the report of fire in the detached garage located in the 800 block of Pomeroon Street. Naperville 911(PSAP) dispatched a General Alarm assignment to the reported address which brought 12 pieces of fire apparatus and 26 fire personnel to the scene.

The first arriving police unit on the scene reported an odor of smoke in the area, additional police units on the scene directed fire crews to a detached garage with flames showing. The first fire unit arrived on scene at 05:10 and reported a fire in the multi-car detached garage. Fire attack was initiated by the first-arriving engine, medic, and truck companies and a water source was secured. The fire was found to be burning on the exterior of the garage, which was quickly extinguished and confined to the area of origin. Upon the arrival of additional fire companies, salvage and overhaul operations were performed. An inspector from Naperville’s Transportation, Engineering and Development (TED) was also notified. The Naperville Fire Investigator on the scene determined the cause of the fire to be electrical in nature. The fire originated in an exterior coach light.

The Naperville Fire Department was assisted on the scene by Naperville Electric Department and the Naperville Police Department. The Plainfield Fire Protection District, and the Lisle Woodridge Fire Protection District provided coverage for Naperville fire stations during this incident. There were no injuries to firefighters or civilians.
