Neighborhoods throughout Naperville will join communities nationwide and participate in the City’s 21st annual National Night Out event on Tuesday, August 2 from 6 to 9 p.m.
IS NOW AVAILABLE!
What It Is
National Night Out is commonly called “America’s Night Out Against Crime.” This nationwide event is designed to heighten drug prevention and crime awareness, generate support and participation in local anti-crime efforts, and strengthen neighborhood spirit and police community partnerships. Neighbors uniting send a message to criminals letting them know that their neighborhoods are organized and fighting back! Last year, more than 35 Naperville neighborhoods participated.
During the event, residents in neighborhoods throughout Naperville and across the nation are asked to turn on their porch lights, lock their doors and spend the evening outside with their neighbors, police officers, firefighters and other city personnel. Events such as cookouts, block parties and neighborhood walks will all occur simultaneously throughout Naperville and nationwide.

Lock It or Lose It
Each year, the City of Naperville selects an issue affecting our community to be highlighted on National Night Out with continued focus throughout the year. “Lock It or Lose It” is intended to remind residents that many property crimes can be prevented simply by locking home doors, garage doors, windows and vehicle doors. In 2015, 89% of the burglary to motor vehicles occurred to UNLOCKED vehicles. The Naperville Police Department is advising residents to “Lock it or Lose it”.
The City of Naperville is excited to have the local sponsorship of Aurelio’s Pizza, TCBY Frozen Yogurt, Walmart and the Downtown Naperville Alliance! See the 2016 Information Packet for more information.
