Community Involvement

St. Baldricks

The Naperville Police and Fire Departments join the fight against pediatric cancer each year by hosting a number of fundraisers supporting the St. Baldrick's Foundation. Brave the Shave is an annual event that raises money for pediatric cancer research by encouraging volunteers to acquire donations and then shave their heads in solidarity with kids with cancer.

Polar Plunge

The annual Polar Plunge challenges thousands of jumpers across the state to take a dip into the freezing waters of Illinois’ lakes. Locally, hundreds of plungers, including brave Naperville Police Department employees and their families, take the plunge, with donations received by each plunger providing athletes with intellectual disabilities the opportunity to participate in Special Olympics programs.

Special Olympics

The Naperville Police Department provides volunteers each year to support the athletes at the Special Olympics Illinois Spring Games as they compete in track, field, power lifting, wheelchair races and race-walking. The games are typically held at North Central College.

Skater's Picnic

Since 2004, the Naperville Police Department has partnered with the Naperville Park District Police Department and KidsMatter to host the Skater's Picnic at Centennial Skate Park in downtown Naperville. This annual event acts as a way for police officers to meet local youth on their "turf" and share experiences in a non-crisis environment.

Police Memorial Week

Naperville's Police Officer Memorial, 1350 Aurora Ave., provides the backdrop for a memorial service held each May in honor of fallen law enforcement officers throughout the United States.

In Naperville, nearly 40 neighborhoods participate annually, and residents enjoy an emergency vehicle show as part of the festivities.

Public Safety Open House

During Public Safety Month in October, the Naperville Police and Fire Departments open their doors to the community for a Public Safety Open House. Held on Naperville's Public Safety Campus, 1380 Aurora Ave., this popular annual event includes information booths and giveaways, hands-on activities like fingerprint lifting, a large collection of police and fire vehicles, K-9 and flashover fire demonstrations and much more.

Shop with a Cop

Each December, the Naperville Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #42 takes the children of Naperville families in need shopping and allows the children to purchase Holiday presents for themselves and their families.
