Ogden Avenue and Columbia Street Intersection Improvement Project

In 2018, construction will take place to expand the heavily-traveled intersection at Ogden Avenue and Columbia Street in Naperville.

Latest Activity

April 13, 2018: Pre-construction storm sewer work has been completed at this intersection. IDOT crews anticipated beginning construction staging for the intersection widening the week of April 16, pending weather or unforeseen circumstances. Crews will work on the southeast and northwest corners of the intersection first before moving to the southwest and northeast corners.

Project Timeline

Work on this project began in October 2017 and is expected to continue through the summer of 2018.

Project Benefits

This Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT)-led project will improve safety and reduce congestion at this intersection by adding a dedicated right turn lane on the west leg of Ogden Avenue and a dedicated left turn lane on the north leg of Columbia Street. Traffic signal modernization and updated street lighting is also included in this project.

Impacts to the Public

Motorists should expect lane closures at the intersection throughout construction. Please use extreme caution at all times in the work zone, anticipate significant delays and allow for additional travel time or adjust your routes accordingly.

Motorists are encouraged to sign up for the Traffic Alerts category in Naper Notify to receive updates on this project via phone call, email, text message or smart phone app.
