Wood Utility Pole Inspections Project
Through October 2017, the City of Naperville’s Electric Utility has contracted with Osmose Utilities Services Inc. to inspect the 3,162 City-owned wood utility poles. Osmose will identify poles that are no longer fit for service, and the Electric Utility will repair or replace the poles in the interest of safety and service reliability.
Inspectors will be wearing hardhats and bright lime green vests and might require access to backyards. When work is to be done near a home or on private property, the property owner will be notified.
Brush will be removed from around the pole to allow for proper inspection. Poles may require hand excavation to a depth of 18 inches below ground and these will be neatly filled by the end of each day. All of the work should be performed in less than an hour with no interruption of electrical service.
For any questions or concerns, residents can call (630) 420-6187.
