Firefighters Battle Restaurant Fire in 2800 block of Patriots Lane

NAPERVILLE, Ill. — At 10:05 pm this evening, Naperville’s Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) received an automatic fire alarm for a business located in the 2800 block of Patriots Lane and dispatched the appropriate single engine response. While firefighters were enroute to the alarm, a call from the premise reporting a fire on the roof prompted an upgrade of the alarm to a General Alarm response (3 engines, 2 trucks, 2 ambulances, 1 squad, and 2 shift commanders). In less than six minutes from the initial alarm, the first engine arrived on scene and reported flames showing from the roof of a one story restaurant.

First arriving fire companies confirmed that all patrons and employees in the restaurant had been safely evacuated from the building and initiated fire suppression efforts. A Tower Ladder was placed to the roof of the structure while hose lines were advanced to both the interior kitchen and exterior roof of the restaurant. The fire was brought under control within 15 minutes, however, fire crews remained on scene checking for hidden fire and assisting restaurant management.

Fire investigators on scene determined that the fire originated in the kitchen area of the restaurant and was accidental in nature. The business will remain closed until it is deemed safe to re-open by the DuPage County Health department and the Naperville Transportation Engineering and Development department.

No civilians or firefighters were injured as a result of this fire.
