Firefighters Battle Structure Fire in 800 Block of South Whispering Hills Drive

NAPERVILLE, Ill. — At 03:47 a.m. on Friday morning, Naperville’s Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) received a 911 call from the resident at the 800 block of south Whispering Hills drive reporting a fire in their home. Naperville 911 (PSAP) dispatched a General Alarm assignment to the reported address which brought 10 pieces of fire apparatus and 24 fire personnel to the scene.

The first fire department units arrived on scene at 03:53 and reported no visible smoke or fire from the exterior of the structure. When fire personnel entered the structure they found light smoke and fire in the attic of the second-floor bathroom. A hose line was immediately advanced to the second floor by the arriving engine, medic, and truck companies and a water source was secured. The fire was located in the attic and bathroom area of the second floor. The fire was quickly extinguished and confined to the area of origin. Upon the arrival of additional fire companies, salvage and overhaul operations were performed. Three residents and their pets were evacuated from the structure with the assistance of the Naperville Police and Fire Department. There were no civilian injuries reported. An inspector from Naperville’s Transportation Engineering and Development (TED) was also notified. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation and the home was deemed uninhabitable. The American Red Cross was notified to provide assistance to the occupants.

The Naperville Fire Department was assisted on the scene by the Naperville Police Department, Naperville Electric Department (NED) and Nicor Gas Company. The Lisle Woodridge Fire Protection District and Downers Grove Fire Department provided coverage for Naperville fire stations during this incident. There were no injuries to firefighters or civilians.
