Firefighters Battle Structure Fire on 1300 Block of Pickwick Court

At 9:51 AM on Friday morning (4/28/2017), Naperville’s Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) received a 911 call from the homeowner of a residence reporting fire in the garage of her home. PSAP immediately dispatched a general alarm assignment consisting of 3 engine companies, 2 truck companies, 1 squad company, 2 ambulances, and 2 incident commanders to the scene. A total of 24 personnel responded to the incident.

Engine Company 4 was first on the scene, within 4 minutes, reporting fire and heavy smoke coming from the garage of the single family residence. Upon further investigation the initial company officer reported a fully involved vehicle fire inside the garage. The engine officer immediately began an aggressive attack of the fire located in the garage while a second hose line was deployed into the residence. Crews checked for fire extension into the living area, secured a water supply, and searched all interior areas as they worked to extinguish the fire. The fire was extinguished within 20 minutes of arrival on the scene. Crews continued to work on the scene performing salvage and overhaul operations for approximately 90 minutes. The residence was deemed habitable by the Transportation Engineering and Development (TED) inspector on the scene.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation and there were no reported injuries to firefighters or citizens. The Naperville Fire Department was assisted at the scene by the Naperville Police Department, Naperville Electric Department, Nicor, and a representative from the Transportation Engineering and Development (TED) group. The Aurora, Lockport, Westmont, Downers Grove, and Winfield Fire agencies provided station coverage during this incident.
