Naperville Fire Department Extinguishes Structure Fire on 1700 block of Napoleon Drive

At 11:26 PM on Monday October 2, 2017, Naperville’s Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) dispatched a Full Still assignment to the smoke investigation in 1700 block of Napoleon Drive. A Naperville Police unit arrived on the scene at 11:28 PM and reported smoke coming from the multi-family unit. The alarm was immediately upgraded to a General Alarm assignment which brought 11 pieces of fire apparatus and 25 firefighters to the scene.

The first fire suppression unit arrived on the scene at 11:30 PM and reported smoke and fire showing from the structure. Fire attack was initiated by the first-arriving suppression companies. The fire was found to be burning in the second-floor bedroom. The fire was quickly extinguished. Fire companies on the scene completed an interior search and checked for fire extension. An inspector from Naperville’s Transportation Engineering and Development determined the fire unit uninhabitable. The adjacent units were determined to be habitable. The American Red Cross was notified to provide assistance to the occupants of the home. The cause of the fire is under investigation. The Naperville Fire Department transported one patient to Edward hospital. There were no firefighter injuries reported.

The Naperville Fire Department was assisted on the scene by the Naperville Police Department, Transportation and Engineering Division, Naperville Electric Department and NICOR. The Darien Woodridge Fire Protection District, Plainfield Fire Protection District, and the Westmont Fire Department provided coverage for Naperville fire stations during this incident.
