Naperville Police Arrest Subject for Firearms Violations

Felon Arrested for Possession of Firearm with Obliterated Serial Number

On May 3, 2017 members of Naperville Police Department’s Special Operations Group (SOG), served an arrest warrant for Christopher Brooks, 24 of Naperville, charging him with Aggravated Unlawful Possession of a Firearm and Possession of a Firearm by a Felon. The charges stem from contact on March 31, 2017 when SOG officers were on routine patrol in the 1500 block of Naperville Wheaton Road and investigated a suspicious vehicle occupied by Brooks. Brooks, a convicted felon, was discovered to be in possession of a firearm with an obliterated serial number.

Brooks has been charged with Aggravated Unlawful Use of Weapon, a Class 4 Felony and Possession of a Firearm by a Felon, a Class 3 Felony.

The Naperville Police wish to remind the public and the news media that a charge is merely an accusation, and a defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
