Naperville Police Charge Suspects in Recent Armed Robbery

Naperville Police have secured aggravated robbery charges against two individuals accused of committing armed robberies in Naperville on August 2.

Jeremy Mitchell, 21, of the 400 block of Valley Forge Court in Aurora, and Jaden Smith, 18, of the 100 block of Norwell Lane in Round Lake, are each charged with one count of aggravated robbery, a class 1 felony stemming from an August 2 incident in a parking lot near the intersection of Jefferson Avenue and Route 59 around 3 p.m. Mitchell is alleged to have driven a vehicle while Smith, an occupant of the vehicle, took $280 from a victim during a meeting arranged online to purchase festival tickets. When the victim struggled to reclaim the money, Smith is alleged to have brandished and threatened use of a stun gun.  Mitchell was taken into custody on August 30, 2017 and Smith was taken into custody on September 12 in Will County on an unrelated charge.

The Naperville Police wish to remind the public and the news media that a charge is merely an accusation, and a defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
