Structure Fire 500 block of Springhill Circle

At 6:11 p.m. on the evening of Wednesday, August 2, Naperville’s Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) received a 911 call for the report of a fire in an attached garage of a single family home. A general alarm was dispatched for the call, while units were en-route, multiple calls were received for the confirmed structure fire. The General Alarm assignment consists of three engines, two ladder trucks, one squad, two ambulances, and two shift commanders, bringing a total of 24 firefighters to the scene. The first arriving fire department unit arrived on scene within five minutes of the original call and reported a fire in an attached garage of a single family home. There was fire communicating to the exposure resident adjacent to the fire building. The first arriving unit upgraded the assignment to a box alarm, bringing in additional fire/EMS units and command staff to the scene. Arriving units were able to determine that there were no civilians in either house from the owner. The main body of fire was extinguished within 45 minutes of the first unit’s arrival. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation. Residents from both homes were displaced and Red Cross was on scene to assist both families.

The Naperville Fire Department was assisted on the scene by the Lisle-Woodridge FPD, Downers Grove FD, Warrenville FPD, and Naperville Police Department. Other agencies to assist on scene were Nicor, Naperville Emergency Management Agency, (TED) Transportation and Engineering Division, Naperville Electric Department and Naperville Public Works. The Plainfield FPD, Bolingbrook FD, Westmont FD, Wheaton FD, Lockport FPD, Lombard FD, Warrenville FPD, and Aurora FD provided coverage for Naperville fire stations during this incident. There were no injuries to firefighters or civilians.
