Fire Department Battles Structure Fire on 700 Block of N. Brainard St.

NAPERVILLE, IL - At 7:31 PM on Saturday, December 30, 2017, Naperville’s Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) received a 911 call from a resident reporting a chimney fire in the 700 block of N. Brainard. Naperville police arrived on scene prior to the fire department and reported fire showing from the roof of the home, at this point the alarm was upgraded to a general alarm response bringing a total of twenty-four firefighters and 10 pieces of fire apparatus to the scene. The first fire department unit arrived on scene within six minutes of the initial 911 call and confirmed that all residents had been evacuated from the home. One hose line was advanced to the roof of the two-story home via aerial ladder in an effort to extinguish the flames while crews checked the interior of the home for fire extension into the residence. Despite the sub-zero temperatures, firefighters were able to extinguish the flames within twenty minutes of arriving on scene. Firefighters contained the fire to the roof and chimney of the home and the home was deemed habitable.

There were no reported injuries to civilians or firefighters because of this fire. The Naperville Fire Department was assisted on scene by the Naperville Police Department. The Warrenville Fire Protection District, Downers Grove Fire Department, and Wheaton Fire Department assisted by providing station coverage during this incident.
