June 20 Fire at Jessica Court Residence

NAPERVILLE, Ill. — At 9 p.m. on Saturday, June 20, Naperville’s Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) received a report of a fire from a Naperville Police Department unit, as well as a 911 call from a resident reporting a fire involving a neighbor’s single-family home. A general alarm was dispatched to the reported structure fire. The general alarm assignment consisted of three engines, one ladder truck, two squads, two ambulances and two shift commanders.

Within four minutes of the initial 911 call, Battalion 2 arrived on scene, observed heavy black smoke and fire coming from the side of the house and established command. The first engine on scene arrived shortly after and deployed a hand-line to extinguish the fire. Engine 7 and Battalion 2 evacuated one resident out of the house upon arrival. Salvage and overhaul was performed on the interior and exterior of the house, along with smoke removal and extinguishment of any hidden fire.

The Naperville Fire Department was assisted on the scene by the Naperville Police Department, Naperville Electric Department and NICOR. The American Red Cross was contacted to assist residents and the City's Transportation, Engineering, and Development Department (TED) was contacted for follow-up. The Oswego Fire Protection District and Bolingbrook Fire Department provided coverage for Naperville fire stations during this incident. There were no injuries to firefighters or civilians. The residence was deemed uninhabitable. Naperville Fire Department investigators are working to determine the cause of the fire.
