Naperville Fire Department Extinguishes Structure Fire in the 900 Block of Havenshire Court

NAPERVILLE, Ill. — Naperville’s Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) received an automatic fire alarm (AFA) for a multifamily residence at 1:47 a.m. on April 12. This AFA was a single-suppression vehicle response.

Upon arrival, Naperville's Squad 8 found no outward signs of fire from the two-story townhome. Upon further investigation, it was determined there was a bedroom fire in the home and the alarm was upgraded to a general alarm for the structure fire. A general alarm assignment consists of three engines, two ladder trucks, one squad, two ambulances, two shift commanders and one rescue vehicle.

The first unit on scene forced entry, established a water supply and made an interior attack with a hand-line to extinguish the fire. Residents were not home at the time of the fire and both adjacent units were evacuated. Once other fire companies arrived on scene, they assisted with extinguishment of the fire, performed salvage and overhaul, smoke removal and extinguishment of any hidden fire. The fire was under control within 25 minutes of the initial fire alarm.

The Naperville Fire Department was assisted on the scene by the Naperville Police Department and notifications were made to Transportation, Engineering, and Development (TED), and The American Red Cross. The Warrenville Fire Protection District, Bolingbrook Fire Department and Wheaton Fire Department provided coverage for three Naperville Fire stations during this incident.

There were no injuries to firefighters or civilians. Naperville Fire Investigators are currently determining the cause of this fire. This residence was determined to be uninhabitable for the affected unit only.
