Naperville Firefighters Extinguish Residential Fire on 1600 Block of Lois Ann Lane

At 6:56 p.m. on Thursday (9/3/2020), Naperville’s Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) received multiple calls for the structure fire at a 2-story, wood framed single family residence located in the 1600 block Lois Ann Lane. Naperville 911 (PSAP) dispatched a general alarm assignment consisting of 10 pieces of fire apparatus and 24 personnel including an Incident Commander and Incident Safety Officer to the reported address.

At 7:01 p.m., Engine 4 arrived on scene, established command and found fire in the rear of the home. Engine 4 and supporting suppression units began a coordinated fire attack by advancing a hose line to the rear of the structure as well as into the house. Primary and secondary searches were conducted, all three occupants were found to be out of the house prior to the arrival of fire department personnel. Crews were able to extinguish the fire within 15 minutes of arrival. Companies on scene conducted overhaul and ventilation to expose any areas of high heat and remove smoke from the home. The fire, which started on the exterior of the home, communicated into the attic causing damage to the interior of the home as well.

The Naperville Fire Department was assisted on the scene by the Naperville Police Department, NICOR, and the Naperville Transportation, Engineering, and Development Team (TED). Station Coverage was provided by the Warrenville Fire Protection District, the Dowers Grove Fire Department and the Lisle-Woodridge Fire Protection District. The cause is fire was found to be from improperly disposed of grilling materials. There were no injuries to any occupants or firefighters while operating on scene. The building was deemed to be uninhabitable.
