Structure Fire in the 800 Block of Proud Clarion Court

Firefighters Extinguish Blaze in Single-Family Home

NAPERVILLE, Ill. — At 6:39 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 18, Naperville’s Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) received an alarm for smoke detector activation at a residential building located in the 800 block of Proud Clarion Court. Naperville 911(PSAP) dispatched Truck 1. Upon arrival at 6:45 a.m., firefighters found smoke coming from the basement of the home and immediately had PSAP upgrade to a general alarm assignment consisting of 10 pieces of fire apparatus and 24 personnel, including an incident commander and incident safety officer, to the reported address.

Simultaneously, Truck 1 completed a 360-degree survey of the structure and verified that all occupants were out of the home. Three occupants were home at the time of the fire and were able to exit the structure on their own. The crew of Truck 1 and supporting suppression units began an aggressive interior fire attack. Crews advanced hose lines to the basement of the home and found fire located in a bathroom. Crews extinguished the fire within 10 minutes of arrival and the fire was contained to the area of origin. With the fire under control, suppression units on scene began to ventilate and initiate overhaul efforts to expose any hidden fire or areas of high heat.

The Naperville Fire Department was assisted on the scene by the Naperville Police Department; The Naperville Transportation, Engineering, and Development Team (TED); the Naperville Electric and Water departments; The American Red Cross; NICOR and Naperville Fire Department Fire Investigators. Station Coverage for Naperville Fire stations was provided by the Warrenville Fire Protection District, the Plainfield Fire Protection District and the Bolingbrook Fire Department.

The fire is currently under investigation. There were no injuries to civilians or firefighters while operating on scene. The home was deemed uninhabitable by the Naperville TED Department.
