Structure Fire 2400 Block of Brockton Circle
NAPERVILLE, Ill. — At 3:46 a.m. this morning, Monday, July 19, Naperville’s Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) received a 911 call from the resident reporting smoke in a single-family home. A full still alarm was dispatched to the scene. A full still assignment consists of two engines, one ladder trucks, one squad, one ambulance and two shift commanders.
Within five minutes of the initial 911 call, Engine 5 arrived on scene and reported nothing showing. Upon further investigation, E5 reported a fire in the attached garage and upgraded the incident to a general alarm. The general alarm adds an additional engine, truck and ambulance to the scene.
Upon arrival of E5, both residents were out of the house. E5 deployed a hand-line to extinguish the fire in the garage. Within 15 minutes of the initial 911 call, command advised that the main body of the fire was extinguished.
Salvage and overhaul were performed on the garage; and a search was conducted, along with smoke removal from the home and extinguishment of any hidden fire. The resident stated she was alerted by smoke detectors activating, smelled smoke and called 911.
The Naperville Fire Department was assisted on the scene by the Naperville Police Department. The City's Transportation, Engineering, Development department was notified for follow-up. The Bolingbrook Fire Department and Plainfield Fire Protection District provided coverage for Naperville fire stations during this incident. There were no injuries to firefighters or civilians.
The cause of this fire was not suspicious in nature and is currently under investigation by the Naperville Fire Investigation Team. The residence was determined to be habitable.
