Saybrook 11th Avenue Water Main Replacement

The City's Water/Wastewater Utility will be replacing water main on 11th Avenue in the Saybrook neighborhood, between Washington and Columbia Streets. City contractor Bolder Contractors will be on site to replace aging 6-inch water main with larger size 8- or 12-inch PVC pipe in accordance with current City standards.

Project Timeline

The project is scheduled to begin in May and is expected to conclude in August. Work in front of Beebe school (from Washington Street to Brainard Street) will take place during the summer months, while school is out of session.

Project Benefits

This project is expected to reduce the number of water main breaks in this location, improving the quality of service and minimizing future disruption.

Impacts to the Public

The new water main will be installed under the roadway pavement. Every effort will be made to keep streets accessible; however, residents should expect temporary delays from intermittent lane and intersection closures. All streets should be fully accessible by the end of the work day.

Widespread water service outages are not anticipated, although some residents may experience brief, 30-minute outages while their water services are re-routed. These residents will be contacted directly.

Driveways will be accessible during the work day. In some cases, trenches may be placed across driveways and filled with stone.
