Office of Professional Development and Training

The Professional Development and Training Section is responsible for providing frequent, timely training to department personnel. Staffed by a commander, a sergeant, two police officers and a non-sworn part-time administrative assistant, this section is responsible for:

  • Range Operation
  • Firearms Training
  • Defensive Tactics Training
  • Fitness Room
  • Liaison with Board of Fire and Police Commissioners
  • Uniform Purchase and Supply
  • Off-Site Training Facilitation
  • Officer Physical Fitness Testing
  • New Officer Orientation and Training
  • Facility Management
  • Safety Programs
  • Academy Liaison

The Records Section and Animal Control Unit also report to the Commander of the Professional Development and Training Section.
