Naperville Police Secure Felony Charges, Arrest Suspects in Apple Store Burglary

Naperville Police have charged three offenders in connection with a burglary that involved crashing a car into the Apple store in downtown Naperville last fall.

Police were called to the business in the 100 block of West Jefferson Avenue at approximately 6:05 a.m. on Nov. 6, 2023, to a report of a vehicle hitting a structure. Upon arrival, officers found the vehicle – a beige Hyundai Elantra – halfway through the glass storefront of the business. The vehicle, which was unoccupied and still running, showed evidence of having been stolen. 

Further investigation indicated that three male offenders allegedly entered the business, stole approximately $34,000 in electronic devices, and fled in another vehicle prior to police arrival. The estimated damage caused to the business exceeded $300,000.

Christie K. Lopez, 30, of the 900 block of E. 83rd Street in Chicago; David J. Fultz, 30, of the 500 block of Fisher Avenue in Rockford; and a third male offender from Maywood, who was a juvenile at the time of the incident, are each charged with Burglary, Theft and Criminal Damage to Property, all Class 2 felonies. Lopez was arrested on March 13, 2024. Fultz was taken into custody on April 10, 2024. 

“This was a very brazen and high-profile burglary, and we’ve had residents asking about arrests since the day it happened,” said Police Chief Jason Arres. “This just goes to show that investigations can take some time, but we do get results. The persistence of our detectives is unmatched, and we’re committed to catching anyone who commits a crime in our town.”

The Naperville Police wish to remind the public and the news media that a charge is merely an accusation, and a defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
