Ogden Avenue Resurfacing Project

Illinois Department of Transportation-led work to resurface Ogden Avenue from its intersection with Raymond Drive in Naperville to where it meets Interstate 355 in Lisle began in mid-summer 2017. Following a winter shutdown of construction, work resumed in mid-March 2018.

Latest Activity

April 13, 2018: Milling, patching, and resurfacing work on Ogden Avenue between Columbia Street and Raymond Drive is underway. Motorists are reminded that lane reductions on Ogden may be in place anywhere within this work zone during working hours.

The project contractor has begun milling and patching work at the Ogden and Raymond Drive intersection, and weather pending, should be performing resurfacing work at this intersection throughout the remainder of April.

March 14, 2018: IDOT anticipates resuming work on the remaining components of this project this week, with milling and patching anticipated to begin the last week of March.

November 2, 2017: With the 2017 construction season drawing to a close, IDOT is planning to finish surface coating Ogden Avenue from the eastern border of Naperville west to Columbia Street this month. However, resurfacing work along Ogden west of Columbia to Raymond Drive will be postponed until the 2018 construction season. Curb and sidewalk work along the entire construction area is largely complete, and all curbs, sidewalks and roadways will be restored to a suitable driving and pedestrian condition for winter.

Week of October 2, 2017: Saw cutting, curb and sidewalk removal was near completion in Naperville, with the focus shifting to roadway work at that time.

Week of August 7, 2017: Work began on the Lisle portion of this project on July 31. Saw cutting, curb and sidewalk removal in the Naperville portion of the project began within the next few weeks.

Week of July 10, 2017: IDOT placed message boards notifying the public of construction along Ogden Avenue.

Project Timeline

Work began on this project in mid-summer 2017. Due to project delays early on, IDOT finished surface coating Ogden Avenue from the eastern border of Naperville west to Columbia Street in late 2017. Resurfacing work from Columbia Street west to Raymond Drive is underway in spring 2018.

Project Benefits

This project will resurface Ogden Avenue to improve the pavement condition for a safer, smoother ride. In addition, the project includes miscellaneous curb and sidewalk repairs, patching and the application of new pavement markings.

Impacts to the Public

Throughout construction, daily lane closures and sidewalk closures will be necessary. Traffic signal timing may also be impacted. In Naperville, although work can occur any time from 7 a.m. to dusk, no lane closures on Ogden Avenue will occur prior to 9 a.m. Note that other types of construction, such as side street or sidewalk work, can occur during that time and may impact motorists’ or pedestrians’ travels accordingly.

Motorists should use extreme caution at all times in the work zone, anticipate significant delays and allow for additional travel time or adjust their routes accordingly.

Motorists are encouraged to sign up for the Traffic Alerts category in Naper Notify to receive updates on this project via phone call, email, text message or smart phone app.
