Energy Efficiency Grant Programs
Renewable Energy Grant
Naperville’s Renewable Energy Program enables Naperville's residential and business electric customers to make voluntarily monthly donations through their electric bills to support the City’s investment in renewable energy. Through effective in-house management of the program, the City has been able to save money and is investing it back into the community through the Renewable Energy Grant program.
IMEA Electric Efficiency Grant
The Illinois Municipal Electric Agency (IMEA) has awarded the City of Naperville a three-year grant to be used for energy improvements. The IMEA Electric Efficiency Program helps IMEA member cities like Naperville and their customers reduce their electric demand and consumption, thereby reducing wholesale power costs. This allows members to shift dollars for other needs and to enhance their economic climate by making utility costs more affordable for established and potential businesses.
Nicor Energy Efficiency Rebates
Improvements in the efficiency of your home’s furnace, boiler, water heater or insulation can reduce energy costs, increase savings and help our environment through a reduced carbon footprint. Choosing energy efficient products is a simple way to help Naperville become a more sustainable community!
The Nicor Gas Energy Efficiency Program is designed to offer ideas and tools to help Illinois residents and businesses in Nicor's territory save energy and money. The program provides Nicor Gas customers with energy education, resources and financial rebates to make energy use in their home more efficient and affordable.
Rebates are available for the purchase and installation of qualifying energy efficient furnaces, water heaters, boilers, programmable thermostats, insulation and water heater upgrades in single-family homes and multi-family homes that are four units or less. Additional rebates are available for business customers.
To participate, residents must be customers of Nicor Gas. Owners of single-family homes or multi-family dwellings of four units or less can participate in the EnergySMART program. Homeowners can qualify for rebates when they replace inefficient furnaces with more efficient units from June 1, 2015 through May 31, 2016. Rebate levels are based on the Annual Fuel Utilization Efficiency (or AFUE) of the new furnace.
Upgrading to a more energy-efficient furnace with an AFUE of at least 95% percent can qualify the homeowner for a rebate of $200 to $250. Rebate levels can increase if the homeowner installs other qualifying equipment and includes a programmable thermostat. For more information, call (877) 886-4239 or visit http://nicorgasrebates.com/your-home/rebates-for-home/.
Applications must be submitted to Nicor within 90 days of installation or by June 30, 2016, whichever comes first and can be completed online at Nicor’s website. Funding is limited and participants are strongly encouraged to submit applications as soon after installation as possible.
