5th and Columbia Watermain Project to Affect Daily Fee Parking
On Monday, June 17, pending weather and unforeseen circumstances, the City of Naperville will begin construction on the 5th and Columbia Watermain Improvement Project. Major work will include watermain installation in that area followed by pavement patching and curb and landscape restoration, with construction anticipated to last through September.

Construction will take place on 5th Avenue from Columbia to Loomis Streets, as well as Columbia Street from 5th Avenue north approximately 200 feet.

Thirty-six on-street daily fee commuter parking spaces between Columbia and Loomis will be impacted by this project. These spaces will be unavailable for use when the City's contractor is working adjacent to this area. Commuters should plan to allow extra time for their travels in and around the downtown Naperville train station area and utilize alternative daily parking locations, including the daily fee spots now available in the DuPage Children's Museum parking lot. For a map of alternative parking space in the downtown, click here. During the project,

5th Avenue from Columbia to Loomis will be open to one-way, westbound traffic only to allow for a safe work zone. Detours for motorists, cyclists and pedestrians will be in place throughout the area, and motorists are encouraged to obey detour signs, use alternate routes and avoid this area if possible while construction is ongoing.

For more information on the project, visit the project webpage.
