NAPERVILLE, Ill. -- At 11:37 a.m. on Friday June 16, 2023, Naperville’s Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) received a call from a resident reporting a fire in the basement of their single-family home located in the 1000 block of Sanctuary Lane. The lone resident, who safely evacuated prior to the fire department’s arrival, was alerted to the fire by their smoke detectors. Naperville 911(PSAP) dispatched a general alarm assignment consisting of 10 pieces of fire apparatus and 24 personnel including an Incident Commander and Incident Safety Officer to the reported address.

At 11:41 a.m., the first vehicle arrived on scene and found moderate smoke throughout the house and an active fire burning in the basement. Fire companies remained on the scene another 45 minutes to ventilate the home and ensure all hot spots were extinguished.

The Naperville Fire Department was assisted on the scene by the Naperville Police Department. Backfill to the stations was provided by the Bolingbrook, Oswego, Plainfield, and Warrenville Fire Departments. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
