Naperville Police Arrest Suspects for Felony Retail Theft and Burglary of Area Ulta Beauty Stores
On Wednesday, Oct. 4, at approximately 2 p.m., Naperville detectives and patrol officers conducted surveillance on Naperville’s two Ulta Beauty stores after being notified by area law enforcement that a group of individuals in a black Mercedes had committed retail thefts at two regional Ulta Beauty stores. Naperville Detectives located the suspect vehicle at the Naperville Ulta Beauty located in the 2700 block of Aurora Avenue and observed three suspects exit the vehicle and enter the store. Detectives were able to confirm that these were the same suspects from the day’s earlier incidents in neighboring jurisdictions. The suspects were observed entering the Naperville Ulta Beauty and exiting the store with two baskets of allegedly stolen merchandise.
Officers blocked the suspect vehicle and arrested the following individuals, charging each with (2) counts of felony retail theft and one (1) count of felony burglary:
- Jayla M. Alston, 20, of the 900 block of E. 104th Street in Chicago
- Skylar L. Escoe, 19, of the 3100 block of W. Polk Street in Chicago
- Darielle L. Wrice, 19, of the 6400 block of S. Bell Street in Chicago
Wrice is also charged with attempted criminal damage to government property and driving without a valid license/permit after hitting a Naperville Police vehicle with the Mercedes while attempting to flee the scene.
All three were released on pre-trial release. Police continue to investigate the suspects’ possible involvement in other recent retail thefts. Additional charges are pending.
The Naperville Police wish to remind the public and the news media that a charge is merely an accusation, and a defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
