Naperville Police have arrested a Wauconda man on felony charges following a month-long investigation into alleged cocaine sales in Naperville. The arrest took place shortly after 3 p.m. on Jan. 19, 2024, in a parking lot in the 800 block of Illinois Route 59.

Aaron J. Koonce, 24, of the 100 block of South Maple Avenue, Wauconda, is charged with two counts of Manufacture/Delivery of a Controlled Substance (one Class X felony and one Class 1 felony) and one count of Possession of a Controlled Substance (Class 4 felony).

A man with Koonce at the time of his arrest – Kenny A. Navarrete, 29, of the 4100 block of Beach Street, Island Lake – was also arrested after police allegedly found him to be in possession of both a loaded handgun and cocaine. He is charged with one count of Armed Violence (Class X felony) and Possession of a Controlled Substance (Class 4 felony).

A third person – a 29-year-old man from Wauconda who was driving the vehicle occupied by Koonce and Navarrete – was also arrested and charged with a misdemeanor for driving on a suspended/revoked license.

The Naperville Police wish to remind the public and the news media that a charge is merely an accusation, and a defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
