Naperville Now Accepting Written Comments for City Board and Commission Meetings

A new online form allows community members to submit input for an upcoming board or commission meeting

The City of Naperville is introducing a new online form that makes it easier than ever for community members to provide input on City matters. Beginning Aug. 18, members of the public who are unable to attend a meeting in person can submit a written comment or position statement for upcoming board and commission meetings through this form.

The form allows residents to choose a participating board or commission from a drop-down list and provide the meeting date and topic for their comment. Submissions are due at least 24 hours before the meeting start time. Upon submission, users will receive an on-screen confirmation message. All written comments and names of those who submit position statements by the deadline will be shared with board and commission members ahead of the meeting and posted to the City’s meeting management system on the City’s website on the day of the meeting.

Written comments will not be read aloud during the meeting. Submissions received after the deadline will not be shared or posted. Those who wish to share comments during the live meeting should attend the meeting and follow the public comment process.

This new process complements the existing methods for submitting comments to the City Council and Planning and Zoning Commission, which will continue to operate separately. More information about these pre-meeting submission processes is available on the City’s website.

“We’re excited to offer another way for residents to make their voices heard,” said Naperville City Manager Doug Krieger. “This new online form makes it easier than ever for residents to engage with a wider range of City boards and commissions, reinforcing our commitment to transparency and public participation.”

The form is linked throughout the Board and Commissions section of the City’s website and available at www.naperville.il.us/bc-comment.
